Abstract
    Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH, GTH I-like) and luteinizing hormone beta -subunit (LH, GTH II-like) were isolated from pituitary glands of Atlantic halibut, and cDNAs encoding halibut FSH beta , LH beta and glycoprotein alpha -subunit were cloned by RACE-PCR of reverse-transcribed pituitary mRNA. This is the first report of two distinct gonadotropins in a pleuronectiform species.
