Abstract
    The reproductive cycle of the sparid P. acarne was found to be annual. Seven maturity stages were determined for both sexes. Reproductive period lasted from June to November. However, the age-maturity stage relationship was found to be statistically significant for both sexes; older individuals start their reproductive activity mostly in June, whereas the younger ones mostly in September.
