Abstract
    Ponderia gen. nov. is here named with Typhis zealandicus Hutton as type species. Also included are two other species: Murex canaliferus Sowerby and Ponderia abiessp. nov. Pterynotus iredalei Fleming is synonymized with Murex canaliferus Sowerby and separated from Murex cancellatus Sowerby.
