Abstract
A combination of night illumination (LL) from 26/2 to 7/5 followed by LD 8:15 significantly (P<0.01) advanced maturation. A greater advance was observed in males, 8 weeks compared to a maximum of 3 weeks in females. It is suggested that mechanisms controlling maturation operate differently in Atlantic salmon with possible sex specific differences
