Abstract
    This research tries to quantify morphological and reproductive variations induced by changing salinities in several Artemia strains. Characters and features studied are those already dealt with under standard culture conditions. Data given are inferred from individuals held under diverse salinities in laboratory cultures, as well as individuals picked up from saltern populations. Conclusions stated are: (1) Increasing salinities induce general smaller size in Artemia individuals, as well as in the different anatomical appendages here studied. (2) Relative abdomen length and compound eye diameter escape this general rule, especially in sexually mature individuals. Compound eye diameter behaviour shows an interesting parallelism with sexual maturity, both in males and females. (3) Furca shape and size, the same as setae number, are both the characters displaying more drastrical decrease relative to salinity increase, attaining total disparition in natural populations under high brines. (4) High salinities favour sexual maturity achievement, although the females of bisexual strains mature earlier than parthenogenetical ones.
