Abstract
A study was made of the morphometry, distribution and life-history of M. Deribae. The species is a typical brackish water species in the Delta region with a preference for -mesohaline conditions. In other localities, known from the literature, far more saline environments may be tolerated. The larvae prefer shallow waters and a stiff bottom (clay and sand). The number of generations per year is 1 or 2. The winter generation preferably hibernates as third instar larvae.
