| Abstract |
The book is based on water colour paintings of 76 species of Nudibranchia (Mollusca) from the North Atlantic executed by the late Dr Henning Lemche. The text is partly based on Dr Lemche's notes. For each species the text comprises the following: 1) the exact locality of the specimen depicted; 2) a short description of the species, including available information on feeding and reproduction; 3) comments on systematic and taxonomic problems. An extensive bibliography is included. The plates and the accompanying text are followed by an annotated list of the North Atlantic Opisthobranchia (Mollusca); the list has been prepared by Elizabeth Platts and comprises 217 species. The geographical area covered has been divided into 14 regions and the presence of the species in each region is indicated. Notes on many species are included, as well as an extensive bibliography. |
