Abstract
Copper toxicity on the marine diatom PhaeodactyIum tricornutum was assessed after 24 hours of exposure, using different parameters: growth, super(14)C-bicarbonate assimilation, super(3)H-thymidine incorporation, photosynthetic pigment content, and others assayed by flow eytometry, such as cellular volume, chlorophyll a autofluorescence and cell viability. Different degrees of sensitivity were observed for the different analysis. Cell viability assayed by flow cytometry was the less sensitive parameter.
