Abstract
    The fouling organisms developing on the shells of Ostrea edulis and Mytilus galloprovincialis in a lamellibranch culture in the Ebro Delta were sampled over a period of nine months during 1986. A faunistic list of the animal and vegetal species found in the fouling of both bivalve species is presented. The percentage cover of each major sessile taxonomical group growing on Ostrea edulis was estimated. The growth of both species with or without periodic clearance of epibionts is compared. Notes are added on qualitative and quantitative aspects of the fouling organisms.
