Abstract
    Based on own research and on bibliographical data a description of the embryonic appearance of the (primordial) germ cells for about 90 species of Crustaceans is given. These cells arise--in different number--in some species of Crustacea entomostraca during early stages of segmentation, but in most species of Crustacea during or after gastrulation. The primoridal cells reach after their migration the ventral pericardial wall where they form the early gonad which is not yet sexually differentiated at hatching.
