Abstract
    The distribution of the Polychaeta belonging to the macrofauna of the soft bottom of the infralittoral layer of a site along the Adriatic coast (Molise) has been studied. The study was carried out by quantitative methods taking into account the different granulometries of the substratum, in order to establish the influence of the substrate on the presence and numerical ratio of the species. It was possible to establish that side by side with species of a wide distribution over various types of soft sea-bottoms, there exist other closely linked to the granulometry of the substratum and yet others conditioned by the bathymetry.
