Abstract
An hermaphroditic, marine sp of the gen Ichthydium is described from North Carolina, USA and from Arcachon, France. This cosmopolitan sp occurred in the uppermost portions of the intertidal zones of 2 sandy beaches. It is characterized by its small body size, by its supporting rod in the cuticle that resembles a vertebral column, a Stylochaeta-type pattern of cilia and sequential hermaphroditism. Its systematic position may be closest to the freshwater family Dasydytidae.
