| Abstract |
H. chilensis sp.n. dredged off Canal Oeste, Archipielago Madre de Dios (50{degree}36'36"S; 75{degree}42'W) is described. This find fills the gap hitherto known about the circumpacific distribution of the gen Hereopora, and allows us to say that the fam Heteroporidae as a whole is of Pacific origin and distribution. The new sp is allied to H. pelliculata and H. magna in its tendency to form cylindrical and branched stems, but its basal disc is like that of H. japonica.
