Abstract
Captive seabass females undergo a long post vitellogenic period characterised morphologically by a stop in oocyte growth around 800 µm and by modifications of vitellus linked to yolk globule coalescence and by GV migration. In terms of physiology, the post vitellogenic phase is characterised by a drop of vitellogenin binding to membrane receptor to zero and by competence of oocytes for maturation under heterologous stimulation. However, differences in oil droplet number and fertility were found in relation to the oocyte stage at stimulation.
