Abstract
    Current research on biomarkers for endocrine disruption in fish focuses on the use of key proteins (vitellogenin or zona radiata proteins) as biomarkers for exposure to chemicals with estrogenic effects. Our main interest is to understand the molecular basis of endocrine disruption, searching for genes that are differentially expressed when fish populations are exposed to xenoestrogens. In this study, a replica colony screening strategy was developed and used to study the differential transcription of genes in nonylphenol-exposed fish. This strategy may identify differentially expressed genes, which may be interesting for elucidating the mechanisms behind these responses and for the development of new biomarkers for endocrine disrupting compounds
