Abstract
In white sturgeon, liver EROD activity indicated that fish from particular reservoirs had been exposed to contaminants and some males had detectable levels of vitellogenin (Vg); however, no differences between locations in plasma steroid levels were seen. The amounts of Vg detected were well below those reported for female sturgeon undergoing vitellogenesis and for male trout exposed to sewage treatment plant effluent. Therefore, a definitive link between poor reproductive success and contaminant exposure cannot be made at this time.
