Abstract
    Three groups of wolffish were held at different temperatures during vitellogenesis, and effects of temperature on plasma profiles of testosterone (T) and oestradiol (E2) and the timing of ovulation were assessed. Temperature treatment influenced temporal changes in plasma sex steroid concentrations, but had little effect on peak values. For fish held at 8 and 12 degree C the peaks of both T and E2 were about four and five weeks delayed relative to fish held at 4 degree C. These differences were associated with corresponding shifts in the timing of ovulation.
