Abstract
In this study passive immunoneutralisation was investigated as a technique to examine the role of FSH in ovarian development in the rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). Immunoneutralisation resulted in a reduction in the amount of circulating FSH, and in turn, a reduced growth rate of the ovary. The results obtained support the hypothesis that FSH is involved in the control of vitellogenic growth of oocytes in fish.
