Abstract
When the Japanese dace migrates to its spawning ground, the expression of a 22 kDa protein (DO-1) increases in its olfactory epithelium. In this study we used an antibody against DO-1 to describe its distribution. We found DO-1 more expressed in mature females than immature fish. Its distribution was restricted to the mucous of some goblet cells and the surface of other limited areas of the olfactory epithelium. These results suggest that this protein may be a pheromone odorant binding protein.
