Abstract
Chum salmon fry were taken and studied after their downstream migration to the estuaries. The testis was found to consist of mitotic spermatogonia (Ist maturity stage) and the ovary of cytoplasmatic oocytes at 1 and 2 developmental steps (IInd stage). During the oceanic life period gonads were examined in fish up to 4 years old. The final oogenesis period (completion of maturation) was observed in oceanic females. Males from the Sakhalin rivers showed examples of gonadal abnormalities.
