Abstract
The estrogen receptor (ER) is the key that mediates the effect of estrogen (E2) on the teleost liver to initiate vitellogenin (Vtg) synthesis. The ER acts as a ligand activated transcription factor. The interplay between these three factors (E2, ER and Vtg) is an interesting aspect in reproductive fish physiology. The aim of this study was to examine this relation in a natural population of female eelpout.
