Abstract
    Steroid levels and gonadal histology suggest that the sexual development of Bluefin Tuna (Thunnus thynnus) is not restricted to a specific period but fish may be at different development stages. In 1998 we observed no spawning till the beginning of June. The present work is a preliminary study to investigate the seasonal reproductive cycle of Bluefin Tuna in the Mediterranean.
