| Abstract |
Micropaleontological studies of the "Upper Pseudoschwagerina limestones'' (upper part of the Rattendorf Stage, Lower Permian) and of the "Trogkofel limestones" (Trogkofel Stage, lower Middle Permian) of the Karnische Alpen reveal an algal flora compiled in ·Table 12. - 4 coenozones are characteristic for the intervall OPK/TK: zone with an algal assemblage, zone with abundant Tubiphytes, zone with abundant Eugonophyllum, and zone with Hikorocodium. The microfacial boundary between OPK and TK is found at the base of the zone with Tubiphytes.Some new algal species are described: Cuneiphycus johnsoni n. sp.; Atractyliopsis carnica n. sp. from the Upper Pseudoschwagerina limestones, and Hikorocodium carinthiacum n. sp. from the Trogkofel limestones. Atractyliopsi casrnica n. sp. demonstrates its ontogenetic- development from sporen to adult thalli.The algal flora of the Karnische Alpen shows clear. relations to algae which have been described from the Lower Permian of Yugoslavia and Japan. |
