This chapter takes the reader on a journey through space and time, highlighting the deep longstanding relationship between the Pleistocene-evolved giant red sea cucumber and the First or Indigenous Peoples along the coastal areas of the Northeast Pacific Ocean. We cover aspects of language, art and culture, traditional harvest and preparation methods, current practices including aquaculture, and the re-establishment of clam gardens. |
