Abstract
Poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs), a group of synthetic chemicals, are used widely, for example, in paints and non-stick cookware. PFASs are present in the environment, can bioaccumulate and have been linked to adverse health outcomes. These chemicals have also been found in the Arctic, which they reach via transport through ocean currents or atmospheric deposition, yet the processes governing PFAS dynamics in the Arctic are not clear.
