| Abstract |
Five new muricid species from the Eocene of Europe, Senegal and Pakistan are here described. Three species come the Parisian Basin: Typhina cryptica nov. sp. (Late Ypresian, Cuisian), Typhina radulfiensis nov. sp. and Murexsul primigenius nov. sp. (Priabonian), a fourth species comes from the Lutetian of Senegal: Siphonochelus (Trubatsa) tambacounda nov. sp. and the last species: Paziella (Flexopteron) parveenae nov. sp., comes from the Ypresian of Pakistan (Sindh). These new species modify the stratigraphic or the geographic ranges of their genera. Thus, T. cryptica nov. sp. is the oldest known member of Typhina. M. primigenius nov. sp. is the oldest known member of Murexsul in Eastern Atlantic, S. (T.) tambacounda nov. sp. is the oldest known Typhinae from Africa and P. (F.) parveenae nov. sp. is the oldest known member of its genus in Eastern Tethys. |
