Abstract
    This chapter provides the framework for informed decision-making, using and applying marine ecotoxicology. Two complementary decision-making frameworks are introduced and discussed in the context of marine ecotoxicology: ecological risk and weight of evidence assessments. The primary roles of marine ecotoxicology within each framework are outlined for both toxicity and bioaccumulation testing. Future possibilities and probabilities are discussed relative to the five major environmental stressors (in order: global climate change, habitat change, exotic species introductions/invasions, eutrophication including harmful algal blooms, and chemical contamination), and in terms of determining Good Ecosystem Status.
