Abstract
A highly distinctive new genus and new species of foraminifera, Taiwanella taipeiensis, is described from the Holocene Matsuyama (Sungshan) Formation in the Sungshan Borehole SS-1 located within the Min-Chuan Park at northeastern Taipei Basin. Taiwanella taipeiensis Huang, n. sp. is found in very rareness in a core sample from the depth 12.15 m together with a predominant species Cavarotalia annectens (Parker and Jones) and some planktic foraminifera.
