| Abstract |
In the framework of a survey of the marine Cyanophyceae of Papua New Guinea, material was collected along the coast of Madang Province and in the Central Province. Heterocystous taxa of the Nostocales and Stigonematales are especially common in the intertidal zone. Ten taxa were recorded; one of these, Microchaete aeruginea var. papuana, is new to science. Several rare taxa with a tropical distribution, i.e. Herpyzonema intermedium, Hormothamnion enteromorphoides, H. solutum, and Scytonema polycystum were also observed. |
