Abstract
    In the framework of the Environment European Year some oceanographic cruises were organized by the Hydro graphic Institute of the Navy in 1987. A series of macrobenthic samples was realized along the coasts of the Pelagie Islands (Lampedusa, Lampione and Linosa) and Pantelleria on the continental shelf and slope, from 29 to 733 m depth. The purpose of this research is to give a first faunistical, bionomical and zoogeographical description of the soft bottoms along the Pelagie Islands and Pantelleria.
