Abstract
There are no published data on whether the bipolar distribution is characteristic of the fish leeches. The data in the Table show that in contrast to other sub-familiies of fish leeches, the bipolar distribution is characteristic of the sub-family Platybdellinae. Only four species have been discovered at the boundaries of the tropical regions of the World Oceans: Austrobdella translucens, Badham (Australia, New South Wales); Platybdella michaelseni Johansson (Southwestern Australia, Freemantle); Malmiana stellata (Moore) (South Africa, Natal), and Marsipobdella sacculat Moore, (California).
