| Abstract |
This document is the result of the experience gathered in several training and technical assistance projects for the development of artisanal fishing gears and methods. It comprises eight chapters that deal with subjects that include the materials and methods relative to their preparation, construction, hanging and fishing manoeuvres, the main characteristics of active and passive fishing gears and the basic calculations for their dimension and functioning. Preference was given to the most representative fishing gears that gave good results in the artisanal fishing sector. The purpose of the manual is to provide the necessary tools in the training of different categories of apprentice, artisanal fisherman, manufacturer of fishing gears and teacher at training centers. |
