Abstract
    The article evaluates the de facto regime of common fishing grounds created in the land and maritime boundary case between Cameroon and Nigeria. A background of the dispute over the Bakassi Peninsula which remains one of the most controversial decisions reached by the International Court of Justice is presented. The grounds in which the valuable fishing rights conferred on Nigerian citizens were justified are discussed.
