Abstract
Interstitial fauna of Galapagos: V. Otoplanidae (Turbellaria, Proseriata). The family Otoplanidae exists with 4 species in the Eulittoral and the upper Sublittoral of the Galapagos archipelago. They are new to science. Kata galapagoensis nov. spec, is the third species of the genus Kata Marcus. This genus was known up to now only from the Atlantic coast of South America. Parotoplana turgida nov. spec, belongs to the large genus Parotoplana Meixner. A close phylogenetic relationship does not exist with P. moya Marcus (Brazil) or with P. pacifica Ax & Ax (USA, Washington). Philosyrtis santacruzensis nov. spec, is definitely the sister species to Ph. sanjuanensis Ax & Ax from the Pacific coast of North America. The colonization of the Galapagos archipelago was started from this species or from a common stem species. The evolution within the archipelago is very low. A new genus is established for Galapagoplana bituba nov. gen. nov. spec. Its position within the subfamily Parotoplaninae is uncertain for the time being. There are no signs for processes of speciation of the Otoplanids within the Galapagos archipelago.
