Abstract
The various uses of rock in water engineering are described with generalized equations using dimensionless parameters. A rationalization of flowfriction loss equations for flow through and over rockfill is made, and general descriptive matter and equations are developed before a detailed analysis of rock in its various applications is made. These include construction of walls and dams, channel linings and shore protection. Specific sections on hydraulics such as energy dissipation and flow through aquifers are treated separately. Chapters also cover soil drainage, hydraulic transport of rock, and the properties and uses of rock.
