Abstract
Hatchery techniques were developed for the commercial production of seed of C. rivularis. Optimum larval growth required a temperature of 28° C and a salinity of 20 parts per thousand. The flesh of this species remains firm at summer temperatures in Oregon estuaries. The oyster may therefore be marketable throughout the summer, and its use could increase overall oyster production in Oregon by as much as 35%.
