Abstract
Several chemicals that have found wide use in established phases of aquaculture were selected for toxicity testing on 4 sizes of penaeis shrimp. These were formalin, potassium permanganate, potassium dichromate, copper sulphate, acriflavin, malachite green, and methylene blue. 3 of the chemicals (potassium permanganate, acriflavin, and malachite green) gave toxic effects at usable levels, and are not recommended for shrimp culture systems
