| Abstract |
Sedimentology, fauna, ecology and actuopalaeontology of a series of profiles from mud region which is located between the area south of Helgoland and Northfrisian Coast, in the inner part of the German Bay are studied. A sequence in grain size, sedimentary structures, biocoenose and biofacies is recognized. On this basis three facies running parallel to the coast are differentiated: Shelf-mud facies - transitional facies - coastal sand facies. These three facies in a single facies sequence in one period of earth history have been considered to show a process of regression. |
