Abstract
    One of the main problems in the formulation of a microencapsulated fish larvae feed is to prepare a microcapsule that is stable in seawater without release of any components to the surroundings. Furthermore, the capsule should be totally digestible or have a very fast release of the contents in the enzyme solution of the digestive tract in the fish larvae. Using gelatin microcapsules, which are able to encapsulate both oil and water-soluble as well as particulate ingredients, the release of the nutrients from the capsules (protein, oil, etc.) has been determined in seawater, and in an enzyme solution as a model of the digestive tract of the fish larvae. The effect of cross-linking the gelatin capsule to different degrees with glutaraldehyde has been tried in order to stabilize the microcapsules.
