| Abstract |
Experiments with air-breathing fishes in mono- and mixed cultures in cages were conducted with the aim to produce table-sizez fish. In monoculture the fish production ranged between 76,9 and 138,6kg per cage per six months, while the fish production in mixed culture was between 98,6 and 149,4kg per cage per 6 months. Cages kept on raised platforms yielded better results than those kept on the river bed. A stocking density of 200 fingerlings per cage was found to be optimal. Cages placed in running water gave a better production than those in still water. The economics of fish production in cages under monoculture and mixed culture are presented. |
