| Abstract |
This session has had a slightly pessimistic note but if we look back to 1975, when there were few aquaculture developments and compare the industry today, we can see large changes and developments with hatcheries for many more different species.But we must ask if aquaculture has developed in the right way. Europe has now 13% of the world aquaculture production. Overall, the global outlook for aquaculture looks optimistic. New problems are being solved one after the other. As aquaculture develops and grows, people are becoming aware of our industry and some people are starting to go against us. Aquaculturists are fighters for development. However there are still some areas that must be investigated and dealt with, such as:1)aquaculture companies must become aware of the need to treat their waste-water effluents2)environmental impact studies need to be carried out in cooperation with environmentalists. |
