Beschrijving
The aim of the study was to investigate if the presence of a Microplastic-associated biofilm influenced the sorption and bioavailability of two co-contaminants with different physicochemistry, benzo(a)pyrene (B[a]P) and cadmium (Cd). meer

The study aimed to assess the microbial composition of microplastic (MP) biofilms and investigate if the presence of a biofilm influenced the sorption and bioavailability of two co-contaminants with different physicochemistry, benzo(a)pyrene (B[a]P) and cadmium (Cd). Co-contaminants' bioavailability was evaluated by assessing biomarkers gene expression (cytochrome P450 1A and metallothionein 2). Zebrafish larvae were exposed to MP-associated biofilms and co-contaminants in the aqueous phase. The present dataset includes gene expression data concerning the co-contaminant bioavailabilities measured in zebrafish larvae after an individual or mixed co-contaminant exposure in the presence or absence of MP-associated biofilms. The exposed larvae gene expression levels were obtained using the ΔΔCT method, and the results were compared to untreated control groups.
