This data set includes the results of the Marine Rapid Assessment Protocol sampling activities undertaken in summer 2003 and winter 2004 at forty three different localities along Ilha Grande Bay, Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil. Macroalgae and animal (invertebrates and fish) samples were obtained, either from rocky as well from sand beaches including infralitoral by SCUBA diving. meer

Voucher specimens are listed following the official codes of MN/UFRJ (Cnidaria) (http://www.museunacional.ufrj.br). Otherwise, the listing is a code out of the combined initial of authors’ surnames for the different chapters of the publication.
