Beschrijving
Collected abiotic and biotic data before and after the onset on RIM in March 2009. meer

Coastal wetlands such as mangrove forests are breeding places for nuisance causing insects. Rotational Impoundment Management (RIM) is one method used for mosquito control, which involves annual summer inundation with estuarine water for six consecutive months. In addition to managing mosquitos, RIM may change biogeochemical pathways in the managed areas. This study set out to investigate how RIM quantitatively affects the potential nitrifying and denitrifying activities. Before and after the start of RIM, soil samples were collected annually in three habitats differing in the size and abundance of black mangroves (Avicennia germinans) in a RIM- and in an adjacent control impoundment.
