Regional Co-operation in Scientific Information Exchange Western Indian Ocean (RECOSCIX-WIO) is a project of the Limburg University Centre and the KMFRI, sponsored by the Belgian Administration for Development Co-operation, through the Flemish Inter-University Council. The Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO has provided substantial support to the project. This CD ROM contains data and information on marine sciences relevant to the Western Indian Ocean. Part of the information is in the form of web pages, which are also accessible through the IOC/UNESCO web site (http://www.unesco.org/ioc). Part of the data and information has been extracted from publicly available data archives. Other datasets have been compiled at the Regional Dispatch Centre of the RECOSCIX-WIO Project · Web pages of IOC/UNESCO, KMFRI and RECOSCIX-WIO. This section will be expanded with other relevant web sites as they become available. · Oceanographic data. Data are available on physical oceanography (profile data of the WDC-A; Sea Level data of the University of Hawaii; ocean depth from GEBCO), and on biological oceanography (partial distribution lists for all countries in the region). Text versions of some of the data, and all documentation with them, are integrated in the first section · Literature information.
