Abstract |
The work presented in this report focuses on the characterization of the squid olfactory system in terms of morphology, behaviour, and electrophysiology. Although squid and other cephalopod olfactory systems have been described anatomically and anecdotally for many years, only recently have behavioural and electrophysiological experiments examined potential odorants and mechanisms of signal transduction in squid olfaction. Thus the questions addressed herein reflect the basic level of our current understanding of this complex and interesting sensory system. |
