Abstract
Parental effects on early development of the sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) have been investigated on 42 families issued from a complete diallele cross design. Significant female effects occured on fertilisation rates, hatching rates and growth (total length of 8 days old larvae). A male effect was only detected on late eggs survival, between 48h post-fertilization and hatching (probably a genetic component). The Interpretation of these results will remain difficult until the male female interaction will not be explained. Nevertheless, most of the parental effects on eggs and larvae development are due to females even when hormonal stimulation is performed at very close prematurational stages.
