Abstract
The ovaries of four viviparous atherinomorph species, Jenynsia eirmostigma, J. lineata, J. alternimaculata, and J. multidentata, were examined histologically. Histological morphology did not vary among the species examined. The embryonic gut in all four species contained cellular material, the source of which is proposed to be ingested pieces of the ovarian folds.
