Abstract |
Two different types of gonadotropin receptor cDNAs (sGTH-RI and sGTH-RII), and two different types of thyrotropin receptor-like cDNAs (sTSH-RA and sTSH-RB) were cloned from amago salmon ovary and thyroid. Phylogenetic analysis grouped sGTH-RI and -RII with mammalian FSH and LH receptors, and sTSH-RA and -RB with mammalian TSH receptors. Transient transfection studies revealed that the corresponding ligand (sGTH-RI, GTH I; sGTH-RII, GTH II; sTSH-RA and -RB, bovine TSH) was most potent in stimulation of cAMP synthesis. Northern blot analysis was performed to measure sGTH-RI and -RII mRNA during ovarian development. The sGTH-RI gene was expressed during vitellogenesis, and the sGTH-RII gene was expressed strongly in late-vitellogenic and full-grown stages. After ovulation, sGTH-RI mRNA levels were high. |
