Abstract |
Metabolic-temperature responses have been determined for non-gravid female of an adult planktonic copepod, Euterpina acutifrons, and for the planktonic larvae of the intertidal zone mud-flat snail, Nassarius obsoleta. The larvae are more labile in their response to temperature change than are the adult copepods, although the level of O sub(2) uptake is significantly lower in the larvae. Metabolic rates of the larvae also differ at different stages in their development. Cold enhances metabolic rates of non-gravid female of Euterpine acutifrons at both high and low temperatures, indicating a greater liability of the female than that previously reported for the 2 dimorphic male. |
